Even Disney isn't safe from the recession. It's a weird time to be working at WDW. Everyone is very anxious and on-edge and reasonably so. I have a lot of conflicting emotions about the layoffs occurring, which are affecting all of us. I feel so awful for those with families, especially since many of these workers have been here for 30+ years. Alternatively, at a time like this, I almost feel like it may become a case for survival of the fittest, and possibly companies can take this challenge as an opportunity to alleviate redundancies.
Hopefully, everyone who has been let go had some previous indication to begin preparing. Most of those laid-off have been middle-management positions, but a lot of these people are leaders we answer to on a daily. Thankfully, none of my managers have been released, but one of my favorite leaders has been transferred to another Disney resort to cover deficiency. This week has definitely changed my view on the company, but I suppose such is life once you are on the inside of such a large conglomerate.

A sad week

It is very sad to see so many good and hard working people loose their jobs. In my internship we have seen a lot of businesses close down and a lot of people are getting laid off. For me it is discouraging because I will be looking for a job in the next few months and I will be competing with so many others for a job. I also have seen so many places cut back on workers and many places are not hiring. It is unfortunate that we will be graduating in a time like this. It is sad to see so many with out jobs and it makes it harder for everyone to find jobs. A lot of clients are downsizing and doing less this year compared to the business and events we saw that went on last year.
I've been trying to find a job for 2mo now... it's not looking very promising =/
Hopefully things will change.
